This is such a great movie - funny, non-violent, splash of history thrown in, lots of action, entertaining and with a good message. I believe the whole family can watch this movie and be entertained by it. I would definitely recommend 'Night at The Museum' and am looking forward to the second movie coming to DVD.

If you are looking for a demo disc to show your friends how great your new high def, 1080P panel is, show them some cuts from this BlueRay disc! Two scenes come to mind immediately. Both are near the beginning. 1. Look at the early scenes where the young cub is around a grassy area. The detail in every blade of high grass is amazing. 2. Look for the scene during the capture when the thick rope is thrown toward you. You feel like you could jump up and grab the rope right out of the screen.

The entire movie is filled with "wow, look at that" scenes and by the way, the movie itself is wonderful fun. We were dancing to "you've got to move it move it" in our living room!

This movie was so freakin halarious. If Robert Downey Jr. was the only actor in the film it would still be great. I love the idea of an actor getting stuck in character or in a certain state of mind.... Robert Downey said something like, "After I played Lance Armstrong they found me in an alley trying to re-renter the Earth's atmosphere in a cardboard box." And Ben Stiller, "I have a home now, and a child." I didn't see the Director's Cut, but I highly recommend the actual release.Entertaining if a bit overrated

The Bottom Line:

Not all of the humor in Tropic Thunder works (obviously this applies to basically every comedy, but the "Simple Jack" stuff falls embarrasingly flat) but the characters are interesting and likable, there are a bunch of belly laughs to be had, and the film is enjoyable enough to be worth recommending even if it's not the end-all be-all of comedy.

quite simply when it arrived the disk had a mark on it so it won't play. Now mistakes happen and things get broken, BUT if it could have been easily fixed there would be no harm done. However despite all my efforts it has been impossible to contact anyone to get it replaced. I am horrified that would use this seller.

when i was growing up i used to watch a lot of the dumbest children's shows ever. the disney channel was responsible for a lot of the then goofy humor that everyone now doesn't appreciate that much. in the mid 90's i remember watching the mighty ducks, honey i shrunk the kids, honey i blew up the kid, blank check etc.., then along came a movie called heavyweights. when i first saw this movie i couldn't stop laughing at the stupid humor these kids could come up with, but what i thought made the movie was ben stiller as "uncle" tony perkis. his whole attitude and mannerisms in this movie are his best work i think he has ever and will ever do. some of the funniest moments in this movie seem like they could happen at any camp. the quotes from this movie will stay burned in my brain forever. when tony perkis finds the campers candy and meat stash, he finds a huge salami in one of the bunk bed's boards. without missing a beat he says "ooh look, a deli meat!!!" as he bends it in half and sends it flying behind his head as it rolls off a table. for some reason this type of filming with a lot of just down right dumb one liners will never get too old for me. i guess it is what you grow up on that makes you prejudice towards any new shows or movies that come out in the future. but for me this will always be one of my favorite comedies of all time.

Amaazon.com is so easy to work with. They had the product a day before what they hyad promised it for. The movie i had only seen in bits and pieces on TV, never got to see all the way through. I am so pleased with this purchase, as it gives you a picture of excellent acting by Christian Bale and john Malkovitz and tells you of what WW II was like in Nationalist China and of survival. Christian Bale makes his stunning movie debut in this Spielberg directed film as Jamie, a 12 year old British boy, who grows up in luxury and opulence as the son of a wealthy textile factory owner in China during WWII. Having attended the best private schools, having every conceivable luxury available to a young boy growing up in that era, not least of which is being able to give the servants orders in direct contradiction to the instructions given by his mother, his life is abruptly changed when the Japanese take over that part of China. His family moves into a hotel temporarily to see what happens and when the Japanese bomb that part of the city, thought to be safe, there is a panic as thousands of British and Chinese try to escape. Jamie and his parents are separated and do not reunite until the end of the war, approximately four years later. The film is the story of Jamie's survival during that time. An extremely bright and resourceful boy (played brilliantly by Bale), he uses his natural leadership and aggression to stay alive and become indispensable to the American who becomes the unofficial leader (godfather) of the prison camp. The camera work, acting and screenplay are exceptional, not to mention the music. The film loses a little something (I think) when Spielberg gets a little too artistic and surreal but this is still one of Spielberg's best. Overall, a very interesting and worthwhile movie about another slice of WWII and how the human spirit adapts when it is put into survival mode. Lu G. for Lu's Reviews.

It's the kind of movie that I've forgotten the beginning of before even getting to the middle. It has to have an end but I'll never get there at this rate.
THE ROYALLY DETACHED...

Anderson's witty take on a family of misfits is hilarious, but laced with an ingenious empathy for his disparate ( and, indeed, 'desperate' ) characters. The patriarch of this dysfunctional group of shrink-fodder is Royal Tenenbaum ( Gene Hackman ), a near, non-entity as a father, and his wife ( Angelica Huston ), an archaeologist ( for the Transit Authority... ), that barely seems to have a pulse. All three of their children ( played by Gwyneth Paltrow, Luke Wilson, and Ben Stiller ) had been prodigies, that have suffered loss of either talent, or a loved one, but are as incapable of dealing with their loss, as they are of responding to one another in any perceptibly rational way. When Royal schemes his way back into the family home after being kicked out of his hotel, the family is brought back 'together.'

I enjoyed the dialogue in this satirical bit of family dystopia, more than I did the somewhat convoluted plot, and the characters were fascinating. Definitely fun.
