Maverick RediChek Remote Wireless Smoker Thermometer

Dual probes a winner
2009-11-13
Perfect for probing meats on the smoker and walking away to enjoy a ball game or take a nap while the thermometer monitors both the meat and smoker chamber temps. Worked as described, gives me ample range between the transmitter and receiver and is very accurate when tested against a digital Thermapen.
This thermometer is helpful during long "lo and slo" smokes. I can sleep knowing the thermometer will alarm if I need to attend to the meat or smoker.
My only complaints are minor, but could stand improvement none the less. The off/on switch on the transmitter is cumbersome since the back cover has to be removed to slide the switch. Also, my probes short out and quit working when the smoker temp goes very high. Somewhere around 400* the probes short out. This is no biggie for my application since I am smoking at 225*, but for a high temp cooker, this will become an issue.
Overall, I am satisfied and enjoy the ET-73. I highly suggest this product. It is one of the choices of top professional BBQ competition teams.breaks quickly
2009-11-03
I have bought two of these now. Both broke within the first year. One or the other of the probes quit working both times. Otherwise it is a very good idea, just wish it lasted more than a year. This year I kept it in a plastic bag, with no batteries in it between uses. The year before I did keep it in the smoker, and it did get wet, but it has a rubber grommet I thought to prevent moisture problems. I will not buy another.

2009-10-16
This rotisserie is made for weber 22 inch charcoal grills. I got this from amazon and it shipped in record time. This is a simple accessory with few parts. There is the skewer with the two prongs that slide over and screw onto it to hold your meat in place. There is a big ring that sits on top of your kettle and the lid goes on that. There's a screw-on counterweight to help with even rotation. And then the motor that slides onto a bracket on the aforementioned ring. That's it. Basically no assembly required. Do you like beer can chicken? You won't bother after using this. I'm not a chef so I can't explain how spinning the meat around makes it so good but it does. Juiciest bird ever, seriously. Also does roasts well with excellent results too. I haven't used this for a turkey but I can't see how that wouldn't be outstanding as well. The motor is quiet, if you care about that kind of thing. The plug attached to it is ridiculously short so you will probably need an extension cord. I recommend keeping the box it comes in for storage because otherwise it's kind of bulky and random in the garage. The only criticism is it's expensive. But it's one of the coolest BBQ things i own and would buy another in a heartbeat if it was stolen or broken. But Weber doesn't make them anymore! So if you are thinking about this, buy now before they are gone forever. I wish I could get extra prongs for the skewer so I could do two of whatever I am doing without have to jerry-rig it.Love rotisserie

I love my kettle rotisserie. There was very little assembly. Would recommend this product to anyone who enjoys rotisserie chicken from the grocery. Unfortunately receipes did not come with it.

I have only used the grill once because I just got it a couple of weeks ago. But, I love it. This grill has a large cooking area. I had like 8 to 10 Ka-Bobs on there are one time. I have seen some reviews that said that it got to hot in the center and did not cook evenly. I think this is partially true, but it was not a problem for me. You can always rearrange you food while flipping sides and so on. I have no complaints about the grill. Can't wait to use it again! Tailgating this weekend!Love it!!!!

We just Love it, we put it in our RV, it collapses and sets up in seconds, we then move it around the site, where ever we want it - It is the best!!!!!!!!

This grill light is a very handy gadget. We grill alot in the late evening and even with our outdoor lights it was hard to see what was on the grill. This works great and throws just enough light. We have only used it for a few weeks-Father's Day present, but so far it is still working great.

This grill is an easy 5 stars. I love the thing. I like it so good that when I am not cooking on it I am planning what I will cook next. I love it. I was also a little skeptical about the price. It is worth every penny. I have cooked some delicious meals on this thing. Buy it and you will not regret it. It is very sturdy and easy to put together. My New Baby

Just what you remember!
2009-11-10
I've been looking for a solid hibachi for a few years. The only hibachi grills I've found are the thin pot metal ones at the drug stores. I just used this last night and really like the simplicity of this cast iron hibachi. Easy assembly and use. I put it up on bricks or cinder block because it does get hot! Remember to season the grill before you put food on. It took about 40 minutes before the "burning paint" smell went away. I also sprayed cooking oil on the grill grates and let them season on the top slot after I had them on the lowest slot to burn off impurities.
BK Great buy!
2009-10-11
My mother bought this as a gift for my grandpa. He has been wanting a hibachi for years since theirs finally wore out. They are not an easy find and this one is perfect. They loved it and it is perfect for their small BBQ needs for two people. Very good buy for the price.

OK but pricey
2009-09-24
I do all the cooking in my family, and I grill outside quite a bit on weekends and use my Foreman grill during the week. As a result, I cook a fair amount of meat. I was using a typical vacuum pumped, glorified tupperware type product for my marinating until it broke. I thought I would spring for this product after all the glowing reviews I read here. I have had this product about 6 months now, so I thought I would post my review. I have used both steak and chicken in the tumbler, and my final conclusion is that while this product is a decent marinator, I'm not sure that the end result justifies the final price tag of close to $200.
After reading the reviews here, I was expecting to taste heaven the first time that I used the marinator. That wasn't the case, however; I could taste the marinade, but it wasn't much more flavorable than traditional marinating methods. The marinade just doesn't seem to penetrate much more than what you get with a plastic bag overnight or a hand-pumped marinator. I have tried various types of marinade, all with basically the same result. I used my Foreman Grill to cook chicken breasts most of the time, because the absence of charcoal grilling is an excellent chance to measure the amount of marinade penetration since there is really nothing but the marinade to taste when you use the Foreman grill. That said, I wasn't overly impressed with the tumbler - the marinade wasn't particularly stronger or more flavorful in comparison to what I was doing before. The results are superior to not marinading at all, obviously, but if you have the time to marinade your meat the night before you cook it, I don't think you will see a night and day difference when using this product. I'm not recommending that you not buy it, I'm just sharing my experience so your expectations are reasonable. Using the tumbler on meat 20 minutes before you cook is still certainly better than not marinating at all, but what I have ended up doing is using the tumbler the night before I cook in hopes of getting more flavorable food from a longer soak time, which sort of defeats the purpose of the product in some ways. Best kitchen appliance for quick gourmet marinating.
2009-09-01
For consumers whom wish to marinate or infuse meat, chicken or fish, I have yet to find a more perfect appliance. It truly will marinate chicken breasts or pieces in under 20 minutes an infuses filet mignon with marinade or even olive oil for a perfect tasting meal. You don't need the add-on marinades or rubs offered by Reveo and pushed in the recipe booklet. It is a solid unit and very quiet. It also gives a remarkable taste to firm fish. I would assume it would work as a great starter for pickling or corning meats.
As for fit and finish, had a problem with base unit where it stopped functioning. There is no fuse to prevent a total breakdown so the entire unit had to be replaced. One phone call to Eastman Outdoors, the manufacturer, and a new unit was shipped with no hassle. Quite
a welcome benefit.
If you like to cook with flavored meats and fish, there is nothing else on the market which can vacuum and tumble at this price. It is far superior to any effect you will get from a seal-a-meal type unit and is well worth the price.

2008-07-24
Works perfectly. A little on the pricey side, though. But the more you use it to cook for other people, the price per compliment goes down.No more kabobs stuck to the grill!
2007-12-18
I've used this several times already. It works really well. It easily comes apart to take up less space for storage. It holds the skewers up above the cooking grate, which works well for delicate items like shrimp that tend to stick when they touch the hot surface.
One of the best things about it is the flat skewers. If you are using round skewers, as I was before I bought this, you are in for a treat. They work just like the round ones except the food won't rotate on them. That means when you turn the skewer, the food turns with it -- what a great idea! Believe me, you'll never use the round ones again after trying this.

Light and nimble, the Q pairs a high performance cooking system with tuck-away tables and easy-grip handles to form a powerful yet portable gas grill. Use Q on your deck, balcony, or patio like you would a standard gas grill. You can cook up to 10 large strip steaks or 18 burgers and brats on the expansive 280 square-inch porcelain-enameled cast-iron cooking grate. And it's economical, the Q operates on a standard 14.1 ounce propane cylinder (sold separately) for 1.5 hours of continuous grilling. Best of all, the Q comes from America's most trusted brand of barbecue grills, which means it carries Weber DNA: The technology and ingenuity that has made Weber the thinking man's gas grill for nearly two decades. I would give this product 5 stars if Weber did more to tell you about the safety regulator that can prevent it from heating up
2009-08-24
I've had this grill for over two years with occasional bad results due to low heat sometimes, it would even blow out in the wind. Turns out you have to turn the gas on at the tank for one minute before you turn the gas on the grill and ignite it. [...]
My LP gas grill won't get hotter than 250 to 300 F, even with all burners on high. Why?
Bypass
Since 1995 all regulators (the part that attaches to the gas tank to regulate the flow of gas) have included a safety device that restricts the flow of gas in the event of a gas leak. This safety device can be inadvertently activated in two ways, putting the grill into what is commonly called "bypass". The first way for the device to be activated is to leave one or more burner control knobs in the "ON" position when the LP cylinder valve is opened. The second is not to wait long enough to "start" the grill after opening the LP cylinder valve. The safety device in the regulator is activated each time that the LP cylinder valve is opened. The device resets itself when the gas pressure equalizes between the closed burner control valve and the regulator, through the hose. If a burner control knob is turned on before the gas pressure can equalize, the device will remain in "bypass". The length of time necessary to wait to "start" the grill after turning on the LP cylinder valve is dependent on the length of the hose and outside air temperature. It is always good practice to wait a few seconds after opening the LP cylinder valve before turning on the burner control knob to start the grill.
Keep in mind that the safety device reacts to a gas leak. If a grill is in bypass the gas connections and hose should be tested for leaks with a soap and water solution.
If the grill is in bypass, after checking for gas leaks do the following to get the grill out of bypass:
Weber Q 100 and 200 series with an adapter hose and the Q 300 series.
* Close the LP tank valve
* Turn all burner control knobs to the OFF position
* Open the grill lid
* Turn the tank valve until it is completely open
* Wait at least 1 minute
* Turn the burner control knob to Hi/Start
* Press the igniter to light the burner
* Turn any remaining burner control knobs to High
* The grill should preheat to 500-550 degrees in 10-15 minutes.
END QUOTED TEXT FROM THE WEBER SITE.
Weber should have done more to tell you about this, it's not mentioned on the quick start directions located on the grill. Per the owners manual, I've taken the grill apart, cleaned it in case a spider made a nest in the gas tube. I've returned half empty propane tanks thinking they were spent. Turns out it was this regulator. Otherwise, this grill is awesome. Great to have, could be better designed
2009-07-15
First off, I'd just like to say that I'm glad I bought this, it is so great to put in the trunk and go have a small barbecue at the park or beach without having to deal with charcoal. Just for that I'm giving it 4 instead of 3 stars.
That said, there are some problems I have with it:
1) Takes a long time to get very hot
2) Does not fit the regular propane bottles they have everywhere (why?? it would be so easy!), I ended up just getting a big propane tank to lug around.
3) Side trays could really use a divot or something to collect small amounts of liquid.
4) Drippings tray at bottom is a strange design that can fall out during transport and if it's intended to be disposable they should come with some spares (but then Weber loves making money off of their accessories)

I love these tools, but I had to learn how to hold the tongs because they pinched my hand at first.Tongs are the Weakest Link
2009-05-23
The rubber on the tongs started to fall out after 10 uses or so. Tried to set them back in but they never stayed. Frustrating... now the tongs are designated to charcoal duty. I eventually replaced these tongs with wooden handled ones.
