I highly recomend this product to anyone who wants to relive the excitment of the the T.V. series that caught the nation by storm. Well done and with lots of extra footage. The only drawback to this collection is the packaging. I went out and purchased a holder for the DVD's due to the fact that they were inserted into hard cardboard sleves that could damage the DVD's.I love M*A*S*H!

This is my favorite series. I dont pay for cable and dont usually get tv where I live. I watch this every day and love it. Anyone who loves this series needs this for their collection.

These are 3 fantastic WWII movies. First, there's George C. Scott's tour-de-force, Oscar-winning performance as Patton. Second, the Cornelius Ryan all-star classic, The Longest Day. Finally, the definitive Pearl Harbor movie, Tora! Tora! Tora!, which is told from both the American and Japanese points-of-view. You can't go wrong here. Lots of action and limited gore. Not the best deal...

Do yourself a favor and buy the special two disk editions of each of these movies separately. You won't get the book, but you'll save almost $50 off the price of this set. Unless of course the book is worth the extra fifty to you... It certainly isn't to me.

Of the "Budget" priced editions available on the market -the one produced by ST.CLAIR VISION is the best available quality.The transfer of 50 year old film footage to DVD was well done -GOOD picture and sound quality.Complaints from other reviewers about there being only 15 epidsodes on the DVDs are untrue - If you go into the epidsode selection Menu and look for the ARROW icon which is just to the right of where it says MAIN MENU-and CLICK on the arrow - you bring up another menu page with the "Missing Epidsodes" - Problem Solved! If you are a big fan WWII documentaries this DVD set is a "Must Have"!

I absolutely love this series. Brought up in Newport, Rhode Island, I learned US History from grammar school through college, but I never learned that Newport had many Tories until I was inspired by this program on pbs to delve deeper into the Revolutionary War. Newport's Tories actually welcomed the British Occupation! I bought the dvd and have watched it many times. It is like a good novel, but it is true. A super plus is the music, especially James Taylor. I own the cd and the book too.

To me, every American family should have a copy of this video to show on Veteran's Day or July 4th, and then take a trip to some of the battle sites. Concord and Lexington are among the most impressive. The Park Service has been restoring Battle Road to what it was when Paul Revere did his famous ride. Every year Lexington hosts a pre-dawn re-enactment of the "shot heard around the world" which attracts TOURISTS from around the world. Another great re-enactment is the crossing of the Delaware in New Jersey. This video will inspire you to want to visit these sites and to learn more about the history of our wonderful (if not perfect) country. AMAZON Increases the price while purchasing!! ~ How lame!

This is a well made film with compelling visuals shot in Africa, very good sound effects that depict the deadly noises of combat and a tight storyline.

The film, like the book, fails to depict the numbers of Somalis killed in the fighting. Large numbers of Somali civilians died in the US v. Aidid militia combat. Aidid's militia wore no uniforms and mingled amidst civilians, but massive US firepower did kill many innocents.

The gruesome dragging of dead US servicemen received and continues to receive attention but the dead Somalis are basically invisible. Ridley Scott does present a few scenes of Somali suffering, such as the opening shot where starving villagers are shot up by a Technical .50 Cal, a young boy accidentally zaps his gun wielding father and a Somali man cradling a dead child walks by a retreating US HummVee.

A famous war cameraman, whose name I can't remember, stated in interviews that huge numbers of Somali elders and children perished under US air strikes and that led to the murder of an American cameraman.Somalia

Based on an actual operation, the action is intense. Very reallistic effects, and well acted. It really makes you feel for the soldiers who are asked to carry out such operations. I am glad they have this film to tell their story.

I cannot tell a lie. I thought this series was not as good as UXB, but I am partial to Judy Geeson. I did expect the inaccuracy of the planes being flown, but not the pristine landing strips/meadows. I guess that I really missed the realism of the stressful situations that seemed to be somewhat missing here. I can only surmise that the writers were from another era with no oversight by older experienced professionals who might have given more insight into the acting roles. I am also a dog lover & thought that the part of the elimination of the mascot that wizzed on anyone other than his master, was a bit too much even in wartime. Oh well, you can't have everything. Even though I was displeased at some parts, I did enjoy the series overall as worth the bargain price paid.Add half-a-star, but this isn't up to the usual standards...

The first three hours, half the show, were dull, stodgy, and confusing. The second half was much, much better, with lots of aerial combat and some male-female relationships which seemed promising. However, the final half has too much tragedy, no humor except some attempts to lighten the mood which come off as cruel. I never really found a character to root for in the whole darn thing, save for Boyd Gaines, who plays Hart, the only American among this bunch of Royal Air Force flyboys. And it was hard, frankly, to even care much about him. It is sad when a six-hour miniseries about something as important as the start of World War II leaves one with kudos only for the cinematography, but that's how I felt when I finished watching this the other night. The aerial shots of the White Cliffs of Dover are what I will remember most, not the script or performances.

The sections on "Battlefields" contain annnoying anti-American propaganda aimed at General Mark Clark, Fifth Army Commander in Italy, and General John Lucas, commander of the Anzio beachhead. Professor Holmes, who never saw a battlefield except from a safe distance, does NOT interview anyone to defend the actions of either General Clark or General John Lucas.

In the chapter on "Bomber", Professor Holmes presents only the story of British aircraft bombing Germany and completely excludes any mention of the US Air Force. In the chapter on "Alamein", there is no mention of the 400 tanks President Roosevelt and General Marshall sent the British Army. After listening to Holmes, you would think the British won WWII by themselves.
