This Optical cable was a bargain on and works great. With the my new RCA LCD TV which has Optical output I connected it to my Sony amp which is hooked to 5 bose speakers producing an awsome surround sound. Disclaimer: This is my first toslink cable purchased and I have only had it for about 2 days.

Item came as promised. $3 for the cable, shipped, is definitely reasonable. The cable was used to connect the TV to a home theater system and delivered surround sound as it was supposed to. It also worked well in connecting an XBox 360 to the home theater system. I actually just purchased another one so I don't have to switch out cables. Since shipping was free, I thought I would buy them 1 at a time to test it out before buying the second.

The only downside to the cable was that it snaps in too tight and it is a little hard to pull out the cable. You almost feel like just pulling it from the cable but if I did that, it probably wouldn't last too long. If you are not moving any cables around, then it shouldn't be a problem.

Please be aware that this is NOT a longer USB cable. It is an extension cable with 'Type A' connectors at BOTH ends (male and female) - meaning that this cable will NOT connect 2 devices by itself. It will only work with and extend a 'regular' USB cable that has a 'Type A' male connector at one end. 'Type A' is the type of connector that would normally plug into your computer or laptop USB port.

These being said, I found it quite useful with peripherals that come with permanently attached cables that are not as long as I wish they were. I am using mine with a Logitech Driving Force GT Racing Wheel and with a T-flight Hostas joystick on which we can use a longer cable.

There's not much to say other than everything is done right, including the price. It is USB 2.0 certified and connectors at both ends appear to be gold-plated and solidly built. This is important because, unlike a HDMI cable that you usually plug it in at the back of your equipment and it's likely to stay there, USB cables tend to be plugged in and out many times and this is even more so the case with an extension cable.

While USB cables are clearly a commodity item these days, Basics cables do have a couple of advantages over the competition.

- EASY RETURN - I know because I had to return quite a few items for various reasons. makes it very easy and, if you are returning the item because it came defective or damaged pays for shipping.

- WARRANTY - these wires come with a 1-year warranty.I am highly confident that will be around to honor its warranty and I'm not so sure about vendors I know less.

I ended up using the 9.8 Feet / 3.0 Meters version of this wire because the price difference is insignificant and, if you need it to be shorter, just make a little loop, no big deal but if you get a short wire the only way to extend it is to get yourself an... extension cable :)

This is the most common USB cable these days for connecting 'something' to your computer but... beware of the 'Micro-B vs. Mini-B' interface confusion (read below) - if you are to use it with a phone or some other small and 'new' gadget, you may need a 'Micro-B' cable instead.

On this specific cable, everything is done right, including the price. It is USB 2.0 certified, meaning that it supports data transfer rates of up to 480Mbps and, if your device accepts a Mini-B plug, this is the cable to get. Maybe the 2-meter length (6+ ft.) is a little bit too much but it does not bother me a lot and there may come a time when a cable this long may come in handy.

Notes:

Anyone in the market for a USB cable should be very careful because there are at least 6 kinds of USB connectors. If you are buying a cable that connects 'something' to your computer or laptop, the computer end of the cable will always be a USB-A or 'Type A' connector. At the other end, you may have a USB-B/Type B - a nearly square shaped connector used mostly to deliver power to a device but this is rare. Most likely, you will have a Mini-B or a Micro-B. The difference between the 2 is that the Micro-B is half as thick while the width is the same - Mini-B is 3x7mm while Micro-B is 1.5x7mm.

If your device (phone, PDA, camera) is a 'new' one and it's using USB, chances are that they will need a Micro-B connector because the industry seems to be adopting the 'Micro' form factor as its standard. If the above sounds simple, you should keep in mind that some devices require Mini-AB or Micro-AB connectors, also known as USB OTG (OnTheGo) devices.

My advice: before ordering any cable, make sure that you clearly understand what type of cable you need.

Whenever in doubt, do some more research and keep in mind that the 'Micro-B' (very small) is the emerging standard and it's likely to be found on the newer and smaller gadgets - phones, cameras, etc. but, before it we had the 'Mini-B' (this specific cable) so the older devices will need the 'Mini'.Great universal cord

I bought this to download pics from a digital camera but found out it also works well with my video camera still pics and even my blackberry. I carry it with me so I can charge the blackberry in the car while listening to the playlists on the radio. Can't go wrong for this price. I looked at Best Buy and they were $15.99, even on the internet.

You get tons of cables and accessories in this kit. It is housed in a nice zippered carrying case that opens like a book. Each accessory is fitted its own niche, customized hole in sturdy black foam. Looks impressive except the foam is too hard and too tight fitting that removing any of the accessory proved to be too challenging. You will need to be careful or you might accidentally break some of the more delicate items such as the earphones and the mouse.

The quality of these kit are on the flimsy side. The mouse is too small even for a laptop. Its button wheel functions and works as good as my regular mouse, but the clicks are unpleasantly loud. The earphones has a microphone but the wires are just too thin. Actually, the smallest gauge I have seen use on a pair of earphones by far. Some of the cables has a retractable cord spool, I like those as it minimize the clutter. Considering the number of accessories that you get with this kit, for an average consumer, it is more likely that you will only use less than half of this kit.

First, I admit I'm a little bit of a techo-weenie gear head. I also travel extensively. I have had a kit similar to this for several years and it has bailed me out over and over again. When I saw this kit in the gold box deals I knew it was time to supplement or retire the old one. I've only had it a few days now but so far I can tell you the case is well built and solid and the cables and adapters are well made. I expect to use it for many years to come. This kit will easily replace a whole bag of assorted cables that I would otherwise have to carry when traveling.

Basic Review: Technical highlights are provided by others. When searching for network cables before coming across this one, I read other reviews by people who were disappointed with their purchases. This was because they thought that they were getting something similar to this product, when in fact, what they were getting was custom made or just the individual pieces. If you are looking for a no hassle network cable just like you would find in a retail store, then look no further. Not only are there no problems, but this cable is much cheaper than you would find in an ordinary store. I am currently using it as I type this review.
