Most of the time when you only spend $30 on something you think it's going to be poorly made and feel like no one put any time or effort into the design. This product although very simple has a nice look. Your wife won't let you wear it to church but it isn't distracting. Also the buttons have nice travel and a soft push, think opposite of the original Timex Ironman. The wrist band is generous, I normally can't wear sport watches because my wrists are to big but this one has room to spare, also rare for $30. The transmitter is simple plastic on the front 12" and then an adjustable elastic band, again I'm a big guy and this would fit someone bigger. The battery on the chest strap is easy to get to and the watch would need jeweler's screwdriver. Just got it today so I don't know about battery life. The watch seems to know when it isn't moving and stops update HR this is a plus because it will save batteries.works maybe 60% of the time

I bought this item to replace a Nike heart rate monitor. I don't like the Timex much because it's less solid than my previous watch (plastic feel) and has a lot less flexibility/fewer functions. It does estimate how many calories you've burned. If that's all your after, it could be a good choice. Good watch

My boyfriend and I both use this monitor both running and at the gym and it tells us everything that we need to know. If you're looking for something that will keep track of your progress, look elsewhere as this monitor only deals with one workout at a time (if you start a workout, the previous session details erase). Also, if you have small wrists, the band may be too large for you. I wish this one had one more hole...

I am very sensitive to comfortable shoes, as well as I tend to ruin them faster than an average consumer (I can judge by my male relatives who usually buy same stuff)

Bought a pair a year ago (it's the same as 991). This one was the best thing that ever had been on my feet. Simply the best. Moreover, it had been quite a while for now that I am wearing them almost every day, and they look and feel like new. Truly addicted.

Now buying another two for my dad and myself, because I am afraid the guys at New Balance like in any other brand will be tempted to change something in the product and I will not like it :)There's nothing else like them...

Bought these based on my personal experiences with other NB shoes and on the many other reviews at the site. These have quickly become my favorite walking shoes. Yes, I know they are technically "running shoes," but since surgery on my back I'm limited to walking. The built-in cushioning is a god-send for people like me. I highly recommend them.

The watch and the heart monitor worked perfectly on first try. I have been using them for a couple of months, and the watch always has received a signal. The instructions are a little complicated for all the things you can measure. It came with three small instruction booklets, instead of one inclusive one, but I am only interested in heart rate monitoring and a determination of calories burned, as well as the usual watch functions. For that, it has been flawless. Excellent product

I have used several monitors in the last 10 years and this is the best one I have ever had. And it is also an excellent cost-benefit.

PROS: - Several functions not common in this price range: you can choose among 6 options to monitor your workout (% hr + chrono, number hr + chrono, etc), your recovery hr, 27 split laps etc

CONS: - just a minor thing: the split time is accumulated not the lap time

Delivered on time, easy to put together. So far, it seems like a solid piece of equipment. I think it`s a good deal for the money, but only time will tell. I read other reviews about this product that said they had problems with the control panel bolts not fitting correctly. I had the same problem with 2 of the 4 bolts, but I got them tight enough. I called Merit`s customer service, and they have called me back, but we have not been able to connect yet.Great Machine...but beware faulty design on nut and bolts !!

Installation was easy but the nut and bolts supplied with this doesn't fit peoperly into their slots leaving the machine little weak. For 400 bucks its a very nice treadmill useful in places like small apartment spaces. I contacted customer service and they asked me to send pictures of fault in this machine which I am going to do. I will update this review on how they handled this. It has lot of variety of workouts but do not buy it if you are over 225 pounds. 200 pounds is the max range for this treadmill.

I love them for walking and doing errands. I wear them at least 5 hours a day.
I find the, very cushy and give me alot of support. I also find the back of my legs and butt are getting a great workout. I always feel these muscles at the end of the day. I am definitely going to buy another pair!

i've had a problem with bad knees for a few years now, and work retail so i am on my feet all day long. i would come home from work with my knees swollen, my legs and back super sore and just completely burnt out. i bought these shoes the other day, and they are a god send!!!! after working a 9 hour shift while wearing them, my knees legs and back feel great! i am so in love with these shoes!!! well worth the money paid for them :)

I was really excited about this shoe (A shoe that works out your legs and butt??!!! Amazing) and that this particular shoe may even pass for a good work shoe. The shoes are a bit big (even though I ordered my regular size of 8.5) and I think if I ordered an 8 it would fit perfect. The Mary Jane is a bit bulky in my opinion and I realized that it would not look good with a pair of slacks. However, I think it looks OK with a pair of jeans. Also, you need to wear socks or stockings when breaking them in because it gave me a blister on the back of my foot that is killing me! However, I can tell that these will really help tone my legs and I think I will order another pair but in the regular sneaker version as I think they may feel a bit more comfortable.It's a great shoes for those who do a lot of walking and standing.

I've been wearing these shoes for 3 weeks and I love them so much.
The first day I wore them (more than 10 hrs long), I could really feel the strain on my calves and my thighs.
That means my lower part of the body really workout.
After wearing them a couple time, I felt very comfortable walking on them (barely notice the wobbles).
Feel more like walking on the cloud. These shoes got a great support on the arches and that helps reduce the pain on my feet at the end of the day.
The size of the shoes reflects the true size of your regular shoes.
You could feel that the shoes got you stand up straight in order to balance your motions.
The shoes price is reasonable(though a bit higher than reg. shoes but well worth it).

I'd recommend these shoes to anybody who needs to do a lot of walking during the day.
They are great for everyday uses.


Cons:
- a little bit hot if you wear them for a long period of time like 6 hrs or more.... (it'd be great if they have a little ventilation)
(put on the no-show socks might help reduce the bad smell that might be developed from your sweat..)

Minor cons:
- the style is not really attractive but acceptable (when trade off with the benefits they've to offer).
- feel a bit weird to walk on them at the first time because of the rolling motions (need some times to get used to).

I received this item very quickly (in six days, shipped to Australia!) and have found it easy to set up and use as both watch and heart rate monitor. The manual is clear and concise; the heart rate function is easy to access and gives an accurate result when compared with a simple pulse count.

I've bought this for health reasons so will be wearing it all the time. The monitor is about twice as thick as a normal cheap digital watch, but it is quite attractive/comfortable and I think it will pass as a watch when I wear it around other people. I have not tested it running, but it's easy to use while walking.

I, for one, found it awkward to use two fingers to make the connection as suggested in the manual and use my thumb and index finger instead.Does the job, but a little bulky

I just got this watch today. The heart rate monitor is definitely accurate. I tested it compared to timing my pulse with a stopwatch. While you do need to hold down the two buttons to take your heart rate, it only takes a few seconds, so it's not a big deal. It would be nice if it continuously monitored your heart rate, but I would still take this over having to wear a chest strap. One thing I wasn't thrilled with was how bulky the watch is. I was under the impression that it was a small watch that looks more like a normal digital watch, but it's a lot bigger than I thought (see the photos I posted). I do have a very small wrist, so it might not look so big on everyone though. So bottom line...it seems to serve the purpose and it's relatively inexpensive for a heart rate monitor, but if you're expecting this watch to look like a regular digital watch, you should know that it is on the bulky side. That being said, I think that's the case for all heart rate monitor watches -- at least all of the ones I read reviews for before buying this one.

This was $30 in Jan '09. I bought it to track my HR during the P90X program. It worked great for a few months giving me the basic features I needed; time, avg HR and Peak HR. I took a few months off of P90X and used it only a few times over the next few months. I recently started the P90X program again and a couple weeks into the program with daily use, the transmitter just stopped working. I replaced the battery, but still nothing. Fortunately I bought a 1 year warranty, so I was able to get a full refund. I will not buy this product or brand again. I hope this helps.Great Place to Start

My wife and I purchased this watch in Dick's at the end of July this year. We just started jogging after reading the book "Younger Next Year". We are new to using H.R. in training, so we didn't want to spend on all the bells and whistles. It tracks average and peak, and the current elapsed time is easy to call up when exercising. I have occasionaly trouble getting the watch synching with the strap, but my wife never has problems. Recently I switch from wetting the HR strap to wetting my chest instead, and it has helped. The funny thing is that our Sole E35 Elliptical ALWAYS picks up the HR signal from the Timex strap, so I know that is not what causes the occasional glitches. I would recommend it for others who are just getting started. After using for several months, I wouldn't pay another $50 for a few more features.

this is my 5th pair in the gt series. overall still happy with the shoe, but i did get a blister on my right inside heel after the first use. must admit i didn't break them in much before that first 3 mile run.
