Several months ago one of my domestic short hairs started shedding. It was spring, shedding was to be expected. She was shedding a LOT, so much that when my husband and I went to pet her gobs of hair would go flying everywhere and we would both end up with stuffy noses, even though we both have very mild allergies. Her fur was EVERYWHERE- even in gobs on the ceiling fan and the WALLS. This went on for months, and when I realized she'd been shedding this much for too long I got worried. When I pulled her hair just seemed to come out! So panicked and took her to the vet. He checked her out and told me there was nothing wrong with her- she was perfectly healthy, but just had a heavy undercoat that wasn't coming off with my normal brushing. He pulled out one of these babies and did a once over- I was standing there panicking and asked a few times just to make SURE that she was okay.. I couldn't believe all the fur that was coming off!! He recommended this to me, so I went home and did my research on it.

I ordered and when it came in I sat my kitties down to be brushed. Due to the reviews I was careful about how much pressure I put on the brush, and brushed like the vet did (not a normal brush). Here's the thing (IMPORTANT TIP:) you need to brush in short bursts (one or two inches, maybe more), and go back up and start near where you ended, and repeat going down the way the fur grows. You can do this in a faster motion if you'd like, just don't do it with too much pressure. If you just drag it all along the cat, I would imagine that may just rip the hair and just not be very good in general. I was careful about how many times I went over them, but never saw any thinning at all.

Lots of fur came off of both of them, and I finished up with a regular wire brush to smooth things out and get the extra out, then pet them lastly to get any stuff hanging around. Works like a charm! I LOVE this thing! Both of their coats are even softer and shinier than they were before (they were already very much so). The one that was shedding most NEVER likes being brushed, but she tolerated it. The other of my cats loves being brushed and loved this also, so no problems with them not liking it.

Over all I'm very pleased with Furminator, as are my kitties! No more undercoat making them extra hot in this summer heat, giving them digestive issues, or getting all over the apartment! 5 stars! I would recommend it to others. (However this is only for short haired cats- I am unsure how well it would work on a long haired cat.)Works so well I bought another as a back-up

I have three dogs: a poodle, a black lab, and a long-haired dachshund. Two out of the three shed like crazy, and up until now I've resisted the FURminator purchase, primarily due to cost. Well, I've just ordered a second one because the one that arrived today worked so perfectly, I don't ever want to be 'without' again!

I took my lab and the doxie outside to try it out. Good choice... the hair was flying everywhere in very short order. The FURminator is well made, sturdy handle with ridges to prevent slippages of your hand while using it. The Large size is great as it allows for long, wide strokes on the sides and back of the dog. I don't think this would be a good choice for small dogs with shorter bodies though. Maybe a medium or small sized one?

The FURminator does tug at the hair (very small metal tines) and getting the right angle, making sure the hair is clean and free of knots or burs, is important for a successful grooming session. I wouldn't use it on the long hairs of the dog's tails or ears, but for body work, it's as good as it gets for bringing up that pesky undercoat that likes to drop out throughout the spring and summer months. I look forward to seeing how it works for the long haul at reducing overall shedding.

Both of my dogs seemed to not mind being groomed by the FURminator, unless I spent too much time in one area. There is mention in the small insert in the package about causing 'red spots' if you go over an area too much. Again, it appears to tug out the hair, and it would be unpleasant to have that in one spot over and over again.

The hair comes pouring off the dogs, even after brushing them with a traditional tool. I'm very impressed with the FURminator and if used gently, your animals should be happy with their next grooming session and you will be happier with less hair on your carpet, couch and clothes!

I only give this 4 stars soley because of the price; had the best price, but it was still a bit steep. This tool worked better than anything else. I had been using a flea comb strategically angled, and that worked until it got old for the cat, who let me know when she'd have enough. A brush was useless, and those mitts and wire "slickers" were laughable.
When I started using the FURminator, I was ready for a fight; but my kitty did not seem to mind, and I was able to remove handfuls of loose hair in a short period of time. My cat looks and feels better!Great comb for our cat!

The price on this was absolutely fantastic. I went to the local pet store and this was selling for about 40-50 dollars.

I bought this item from [...] and had it shipped to the store for pickup at no charge. It's super sturdy, easy to put together and expand with the extension. The inside footage was a lot bigger than I expected from the picture online. I added the extension anyway. Now there's so much space for her to play in (unlike her pak-n-play) she can almost get running. Also, because it's so durable it can be used outdoors and folds up in a snap for travel. It's great to bring to the park or beach. A place to build a sand castle in safety. Highly recommended.Works great!

My first experience with buying Frontline from an seller was great. It kept the fleas off the entire month for 6 months in a row. The second time, the Frontline I got must have been a fake and didn't work at all. At first I thought my dog was just rolling in a flea farm so after two months of applications, I took her to the vet for advice.

My vet told me that the Frontline brand is extremely good, and since we apply it correctly, the only reason that it wouldn't work is if we got a bogus Frontline from an online retailer.

So we switched to buying Advantage from my vet. I do not want to risk spending $70 on fake Frontline again.Frontline Plus NO LONGER WORKS FOR FLEAS on my dog!

I have used Frontline Plus several for several years and thought it was a good product until last year when I had very limited success getting rid of fleas late in the season even though I had used Frontline Plus all summer. This year we have only one pet and I again bought Frontline Plus as well as Capstar pill before I saw any indication of fleas. Two weeks later there were a LOT of fleas and the dog is having a reaction. The vet suggested that they have had more complaints this year and they feel the fleas are developing an immunity to the product. The vet suggested trying a different product which I am currently doing. I called the Frontline Plus guarantee number and they were not helpful nor very nice. She said you had to use the product for three consecutive months to qualify for the guarantee. The flea problem has grown in two weeks at an unbelievable rate so what would it be in THREE MONTHS!!!! I felt I'm entitled to a refund of at least some of the product or replacement product cost. I'm not asking for refund of vet's bill for skin problems due to these fleas and the problem is getting worse since the fleas are worse. I'm only asking for part refund of the product I purchased which is NOT inexpensive. Anyway, I suggest anyone who is thinking of using this product to think about the alternative products and stay away from this company as they have every excuse and NO real guarantee of anything. This product seems to be the best one around as far as I'm concerned for my cat. I've used other ones like Frontline and just didn't seem to work the way advantage does. My cat doesn't get scared when I put it on him and he seems to go about his day without any distress. And the fleas are well control for up to 6 weeks or longer. Not with others. This is my favorite product for fleas on my cat. And I shopped around and was the cheapest place around to purchase this "I Looked". So when I need it again I will purchase it from . They ship it it gets here quickly and I love . Always am happy with results.

At first I thought I would just use all the plastic bags from the grocery store. I was wrong. Don't find out the hard way that some bags from the store have holes in them. Also they are big and bulky for a one time use. I keep a roll in each car, in a treat bag, in the house, in a travel backpack for toys. I use the tidy box system but I put in reline pine pellets and it works great. No smell and when they pee it just all goes down to the tray which I add a little baking soda no smells. We change the tray every morning and with 3 cats I can't believe how well it works for us and is cost effective.I like my cats again!

I have two cats with two different outlooks on cat-life and litter boxes. Kip wouldn't care if I EVER changed his clay clump litter box. He is not particular, a super easygoing guy and sees no need for change. But Cutie is quite particular, prissy and regal-like and although doesn't prefer change either, was ready for a new waste system. I could tell. She always looked at me in disgust when she would exit her clay clump litter box as if to say "this is a disgusting way to eliminate my waste." Me? I was disgusted with the urine smell permeating throughout my new house. I was also tired of the constant bending over to clean and wash the litter boxes weekly if not sooner. Ugh. I was over it. Getting rid of my adult kitties, Kip and Cutie, was not an option, so the search began for a new system.

I struck gold by finding the Tidy Cats Breeze Litter Box System. It was a slow start for the transition from the disgusting clay clumping urine smelling hooded litter boxes to the airy, open hard pellet, urine tray underneath litter boxes. Why they took so long to transition to a cleaner system, I have no idea. The kitties never told me. I bought two Tidy Breeze litter systems because Cutie does not share. I was hoping the kitties would adapt to the new system because I was determined to make it work. There were a few times in the early stage that one kitty (not sure who the culprit was) would eliminate on the floor near the new litter box. But I cleaned the floor several times and stuck it out and eventually they both used the new system. They have even claimed which kitty belongs in which box. It took over a month for BOTH kitties to use their box. During the transition, I had a clump litter box nearby and Kip used it for the whole month until I finally threw it away. I never changed the litter in the old box which was recommended on other reviews and on the directions.

The manufacturers recommend you change the pellets once a month - I do it every two months which works fine, probably because I have two litter boxes. One time, I ran out of their urine pads and used a puppy potty pad that was loose fitting and not nearly as absorbent. Bad idea. The tray overflowed with urine and Cutie was more disgusted than I was. So make sure you have ample urine pads if you have a Cutie-type in your house.

The only negative I can find is that when the kitties really get into "covering" their waste, they spend a lot of time scraping the hard pellets until full coverage is accomplished and in the middle of the night this is a loud activity. I have had the system for about 4 months now and lately they don't even bother "covering" the waste. They poop and run. All said and done, the pros far outweigh the one con.

In my case, with my two large adult kitties, this system works beautifully because of two reasons; 1) I was patient (for over a month) for the kitties to become accustomed to the new system and 2) I purchased two systems, one for each cat. They work great. As soon as they poop in them, I scoop and flush and I change their urine pads about once a week. This has made a huge difference in my relationship with my kitties. I like them again. They actually meow to me when their boxes need to be changed and I accommodate them asap in return for a fresher smelling house and no more back breaking concrete-clump cleaning.

I purchased this product to groom my short haired chihuahua and I LOVE it...so does she. We've tried different brushes, coarse bristles, softer bristles...and even other deshedding tools. NONE of them compare to the FURminator deLuxe. This thing rocks. My dog enjoys being brushed and sits still for the whole process...she hates when it's over. This thing works GREAT on my roommates dogs, but not on my beagle/pit mix. One of their dogs is a long haired dog, and the other short, like my pup, but he has an undercoat so it actually pulls out his hair. I guess it was one of those hit and miss things, but I wish I would have known that there was a chance it wouldn't work BEFORE I dropped the money on it. Also, the "FURejector" kind of sticks (the button is really short) and it's not ergonomic if the dog isn't facing the right direction. One last thing: I've heard that it actually cuts the hair and that's why it's so effective (not a good thing if you like to obsessively brush), but I haven't researched this. I have yet to find something that curbs my dog's shedding hair...

I was using the protocol which recommends using Frontline one month and then Advantage the next month. Unfortunately, after using Frontline, my poor kitties were scratching non-stop because of their flea infestation. It seemed as if Frontline did not kill a single flea. I had to use Advantage much sooner than recommended because I didn't think they would survive until the next dose was due. I believe that in San Diego (the so-called "flea capital of the world") that possibly fleas are becoming immune to these products. Works great to prevent fleas. My house kitties get a dose and away they go. Very easy to administer. If your kitty has sensitive skin you may wind up with a nasty rash and scabs. I recommend having a vet look at your animals first. Once you know this product is safe to use for your animal you can purchase your refills through here.
